“Arneiðr,” Rugga mused, a bemused smile on his weather-beaten face. He paced the length of his chamber, his boots resounding against the stone floor.

I said nothing. He was not speaking to me, rather thinking aloud. A month had passed since we had arrived in Foteviken, Rugga’s city, and no matter how much or how often I saw the city, the experience left me breathless. So many colors, so many flags, so many people! They filled the streets, and though I had no money to spend myself, and though I wore a leather collar around my neck indicating my slave status for all the world to see, I could not get enough of the open-air shops, the kiosks selling roasted meats.

Rugga was often busy with affairs of state, but he would make time each week to take me for a brief stroll around the marketplace. He knew I loved the singed chicken, a delicacy I had never even dreamed of back in my tiny fishing village, so he would purchase a small portion for me to savor as we walked. I wore a tunic made of fine knotted wool, and I strode proudly at his side, pleased that the entire city could see that I belonged to him.

But for all that I loved our weekly walks, I was so frustrated. My body ached from the lack of fulfillment. Alone, my hard, throbbing cock in my hand, I would recall Rugga’s promise:

“You,” he said again, his blue eyes shining with a possessive gleam, “will help me accomplish this by explaining your people and their way of life. You will detail everything they want, everything they fear. In return, I will do with you as I wish. I will neglect you when I have no use for you, and I will take you at a moment’s notice. Sometimes I will use oil and tenderness. Sometimes I will throw you against a wall and fuck you until you cannot remember your own name. If I tell you to dress as a woman, you will comply. But he did not claim me, not once. He did not even sleep in his own tent, so I was never even given the opportunity to tempt him into taking me. I dared not protest, but the lust building up inside me was a terrible thing. I wondered what I might do if not soon tended to.

I would relieve the pressure with a hard tug and a gasp, but the feel of my own hand bored me. The pressure never truly dissipated; it only allowed itself to be momentarily halted.

With Rugga in front of me now, it took every drop of self-control I had to keep from launching myself at him and ripping off his trousers. I was so angry, so hungry. But a slave did not do that, I thought.
